NRW Launches Initiative to Install More Solar on Multi-Family Homes

North Rhine-Westphalia’s state government, together with housing industry associations, companies, cooperatives, and NRW.
Energy4Climate, signed a declaration of intent to accelerate solar installations on multi-family buildings. The strategy includes expanding tenant-solar (Mieterstrom) models, community energy systems, and enhanced information and advisory services while reducing technical and bureaucratic barriers. With about 2.2 GW of new rooftop photovoltaic capacity added last year, uptake in multi-family housing remains low. The partners aim for substantial adoption of PV by 2030 to benefit residents directly.
Econergy Plans to Start Building Battery Storage in Germany in 2025

Econergy Renewable Energy, an Israeli independent power producer, plans to begin constructing two battery storage systems totaling 100 MW in Germany during Q4 2025, with operations expected in Q1 2027. The projects benefit from regulatory incentives, such as exemption from grid fees until 2029.
Expected annual revenue is around €13 million, with an EBITDA of €11 million. The company is also expanding in Romania, pursuing co-located solar-plus-storage projects supported by €150 million in subsidies. Econergy’s European pipeline now spans ~13 GW (8.8 GW PV, 3.4 GW storage, 0.7 GW wind).
Fairnetz No Longer Approves New PV Systems with Feed-In Everywhere
Fairnetz GmbH, the distribution network operator around Reutlingen (Germany), has halted grid connections for new photovoltaic systems that feed electricity into the grid in certain areas, citing risk of grid overload. With ~11,700 PV systems in its area—covering about one in five roofs—the feeder grid now faces capacity constraints. Only zero-feed-in systems (solely for self-use) are currently permitted. Once local substations and lines are upgraded, full feed-in approval may resume. Fairnetz invites stakeholders with ~16 m² of space for potential network expansion.
Average Bid Price of €0.0484/kWh in Latest PV Ground-Mounted Auction

In the most recent July auction for photovoltaic ground-mounted systems, the Federal Network Agency awarded 2,271 MW across 258 bids, with bid prices ranging between €0.04 and €0.0626 per kWh—well below the €0.068 max.
The volume-weighted average successful bid was €0.0484/kWh. Though competition remains healthy, tender participation dropped compared to March: 313 bids for 2,822 MW were submitted, with 19 valid bids ultimately rejected. Bayern secured the most capacity (689 MW), followed by Rheinland-Pfalz (251 MW) and Niedersachsen (250 MW). A further tender is scheduled for December, with ~2,266 MW expected.

Solar Tax Credit Cliff Tightens Project Deadlines

U.S. solar project developers face an increasingly tight timeline as changes set by the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” accelerate the phase-out of federal investment and production tax credits.
Projects that begin construction between September 2, 2025 and July 4, 2026 must adhere to stricter “placed in service” deadlines. Those starting after July 4, 2026 must be completed by the end of 2027 in order to qualify for credits. These tightened deadlines are prompting developers to hasten project timelines to secure vital tax incentives.
USDA Announces It Will Discontinue Funding Solar Projects

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that it will no longer fund solar or wind projects on productive farmland, citing concerns about keeping agricultural land affordable.
Additionally, the agency is barring the use of solar panels sourced from "foreign adversaries" in its funding programs. This marks a major shift in support for rural renewable deployment.
Solar Project and Finance Updates: Texas, New Mexico and Eastern U.S.

Here are key developments from the U.S. solar landscape: OCI Energy has closed a sale of a utility-scale solar project; National Renewable Solutions has activated a project in New Mexico; and SolAmerica Energy secured a revolving credit facility to support distributed solar expansion in the eastern U.S.
CIP Acquires Another 1 GWh Arizona Battery

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), via its CI V fund, has acquired full ownership of the Beehive Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Arizona from EDF Renewables North America.
The project is a 250 MW, four-hour duration facility (totaling 1,000 MWh). Construction began under EDF and will now be overseen by CIP, with operations expected in the first half of 2026.
Pivot Energy and CU Boulder Break Ground on 5 MW Solar Project

Pivot Energy and the University of Colorado Boulder have begun construction on a 5 MW direct-current solar project in Weld County, Colorado. Leveraging a virtual net metering program, CU Boulder will receive renewable energy credits and electricity from the project under a 20-year subscription agreement. This initiative supports the university’s Climate Action Plan by targeting a 50 % reduction in Scope 2 GHG emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. Completion is expected in early 2026.
