“Photovoltaic Generation Already Surpasses Last Year’s Value in September”

By mid-September 2025, Germany’s photovoltaic (PV) public net electricity generation had already exceeded the total for all of 2024, reaching over 65 terawatt-hours. After three quarters, PV accounted for 21% of the country’s electricity consumption, surpassing onshore wind’s share. Renewables overall covered nearly 57% of gross electricity consumption, staying close to last year’s level despite a weak first quarter. Much of this gain is credited to rapid PV capacity expansion.
